I'm pretty happy with how the cake turned out. I had planned to do a lot more with it, but ran out of time. Which is what happens when people move a birthday party up one day. :shrug:

I had originally planned to have more block items such as the star and flower as well as the ones I have here on wire sticking out of the cake.

Perhaps a Mario block version II.

It was quite a task to cut all those little pieces out of fondant! I found myself wishing for Mario cookie cutters.... :D

so like which thinking comes out :D i hope it's the bunny ears i love those!! I think a cool idea for this cake would be to like make like say the fire flower inside the cake so once you cut it you'd see the flower lol sorry if i didn't explain that well

Mario cookie cutters are great, just check eBay for a set. How in the world do you do that with frosting?

Wow, I would have been so happy with a cake like this XD I remember playing all the mario games when I was little. My big cousins had a sega and we had a nintendo so we played alot. I remember playing mario 3 was it? with the feathers and the different suits in the super nintendo with my friends recently and they'd never played it before. I loved getting the suits that meant you could fly the entire level and the frog suits were great X3 jumping around as a frog. The best suits of all were the hammer bros suits cause then you could fling hammers at the enemies. Sorry.. that turned out a rather long comment ^^;

Mario should be leaping out of the cake on a wire. Smooshed koopas below him! Hehe. Can't wait for Mario Cake 2 (even if it is a looooong way away!)

That's pretty cute! I love your culinary decoration skills!!! =D I would love to be a cook if I wasn't so picky... cuz I love to cook but there's a lot of food I am unfamiliar with cuz I don't like it.
